God is Love
Favorites, we all have them! What is your favorite flavor Ice Cream (my answer would be "yes"!), what is your favorite sports team, what is your favorite color, what is your favorite food, where is your favorite vacation location....you get the idea. Our favorite is what we would chose over any other option. There are some who think God has favorites, or at least some He prefers over others. They think, "Well, God wold never choose me, I've made too many mistakes". "God can't love me, I mess up all the time". "God can't love me, I have too many bad habits". Those kind of thoughts, though they make sense to us, they are contrary to the Word of God. Acts 10:34 and Romans 2:11 both say that God shows no partiality. We can't compute that in our humanity. There are those that we don't love. They have hurt us, they have disappointed us, they have been cruel and spiteful toward us, so love doesn't fit in to our opinion of them. But, that doesn't apply to God. Romans 8:38-39 make that perfectly clear. "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord". See, it doesn't matter how high and lofty your opinion of yourself. It doesn't matter if you think you are the lowest of the low. It doesn't matter how far away you run from God, or what things you place before Him. None of these things can stop God from loving you! He loves you no matter what you have done, what you haven't done, or how low your opinion of yourself. He loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die on a cross and to pay the price for all the wrongs you have ever committed, and ever will commit! He loves you so much that no matter where you go, you can't escape His love. He loves you so much that He offers you full forgiveness of sin, even if you never accept it. So, I guess I was wrong, God does have a favorite!
