Thoughts for the Journey

Unprecedented Times
Like many of you, I have heard it said time after time, after time, "We are living in unprecedented days".  And, I agree with that, but we cannot just limit it to the current situation of our society.  Truth is, everyday you and I live, it is unprecedented.  Webster's Dictionary defines "unprecedented" as, "novel, unexampled, never known before".  Well, based on that definition, every day is unprecedented.  Every day of your life, no matter how old you are, or what the era in which you live, has never been known before.  You and I wake up each day with hours before us that have never been lived, and never been experienced.  Unless you are Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" there has never been a day that is just like another.  They are all unprecedented.  Lamentations 3:22-24 reminds us of our dependence upon God in the unknown of each day.  It tells us, "Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, therefore I hope in Him!”  I thank God for His faithful mercy.  It is His mercy that sustains me, that provides for me, that wakes me up each day to encounter another unprecedented day.  When you wake up to the reality that God's mercy has given you the opportunity to live another never before known day, you realize your total and complete reliance on Him, for with out it, you and I would be consumed. So, each morning that you rise to see another day, thank God for His mercy, and pray that He will strengthen you through the unprecedented hours that are before you!
