"My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
I can relate to the Psalmist here. My heart and flesh fail daily, unfortunately. Like Paul, there are times that I feel like the chief of sinners. I fail......."But God"! Don't you love those words, But God! That's enough! That's all I need to know! He is my ever present help in times of trouble. He is my rock and my refuge. He is my hiding place! He is the anchor in the storm! He is my redeemer and deliverer! He is my strength and my salvation! He makes me to walk on my high hills (Habakkuk 3). Now, I know it's not good for me, and I know I need to change, but I struggle with portion control when it comes to good food and desserts. You may have discovered that about me! And while lack of portion control is unhealthy in our eating habits, it should never be an issue when it comes to God! Give me more, and more and more and more of Jesus! May He increase and I decrease! I am crucified with Christ so that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.....! Give me more! There is an old song my Minister of Music used to sing growing up: Fill My Cup, Lord. The lyrics of the chorus say these words
"Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole"
That is my prayer for myself and for all of us! Fill us Lord! Send the overflowing portion of your Holy Spirit to overwhelm us! I praise God that there is not a portion limit to His love, mercy, strength, grace and forgiveness!
